The Whitehaven AFC Lionesses were delighted tonight to be able to unveil their brand new kit which has been kindly sponsored by local property developer High Grange Developments.
The team was formed back in 2017 in what was a hard first season as 16 girls came together with the last joining 4 months into the season and although wins were hard to come by, the attitude of the Girls shone through throughout while they had fun learning and improving and even over the course of the season were able to get a couple of wins.
One big bonus and confidence boost to the girls in that first year was they were supported by the amazing local property developers who currently have a lovely site at Keekle Meadows with beautiful properties in a very scenic location. Having a kit gives these young girls a real identity and sense of belonging and really helped nurture the team and push them to want to be better and keep them together.
The following season all the hard work paid off for this amazing set of crazy girls who were, Harraby FC, Warwick Wanderers, Northbank FC & Carlisle Reivers Festival Winners as well as the WCYL League Cup Winners.
This season they have set off well in the League, currently joint top in the outdoor league alongside their big sisters in the u12 Lionesses, and only defeat been to a very good Workington Diamonds Team and that same team beat them recently on their opening Futsal game, both games were very close and excellent games.
The girls had outgrown their kits over the past two years but the team didn’t even have to ask for further sponsorship as these amazing people at High Grange contacted the lead coach to see if the girls are ok and if they needed a new kit, which shows just what a caring group of people and brilliant local company High Grange are.

Coaches Rob Campbell, Gary Barwise & Andy Beattie said ‘We are overwhelmed by High Grange once again supporting our young lasses. They look really smart in their new kits and since the Girls knew they were getting it, it’s all they have talked about, that excitement is because of High Grange’s generosity and we really love their support, not just with the kits but the kind words of support they sent us over the last 2yrs and we really happy they going to be part of our football family for the next 2yrs’
Laura Reed who is the Resourcing Manager for High Grange Developments said ‘We are delighted to continue our support to these future lionesses. Good luck for the season girls.’
